GSM Ranges for Activewear
120-160 GSM (Lightweight)
Ultra-light, breathable fabrics ideal for summer tops and hot yoga. May lack opacity for leggings.
160-200 GSM (Medium)
Balanced weight suitable for most yoga tops and lighter leggings. Good moisture management.
200-260 GSM (Medium-Heavy)
Provides structure, compression and opacity. Common for premium leggings and sports bras.
260+ GSM (Heavy)
Maximum coverage and structure. Used for outerwear and performance jackets.
GSM Does Not Equal Quality
Higher GSM does not automatically mean better fabric. A 180 GSM fabric with excellent yarn quality, knitting structure and finishing can outperform a 250 GSM fabric with poor construction.
